What live video / live streaming meant for my business ... how it all began

Years ago, I would travel a 100 mile radius just to attend business networking events. What can I say? I get energized just by being around great people! Successful people and action takers inspire and empower me!

But I realized that I only had 24 hours a day to build a business and have a personal life (in addition to sleep, rest and some fun "play" time), I quickly realized that there must be a better way to connect and be in front of my ideal clients and/or customers than traditional networking events.

Then ... live video or live streaming happened! In fact, I started with Google Hangouts simply because I wanted to invite those who cannot attend my meetups in person can still join us online or even watch a replay of the event at a later time via video.

How Live Video / Live Streaming Accelerates Relationships

An avid networker turned international livestreamer ...

When Periscope came around it took some getting used to because it was only available via a smartphone app. Which means you can only "go live" on your phone versus the desktop. However, this was the most eye opening experience for me! In just one week of using Periscope, I had a 100% increase in my Twitter following and an average of 50 new followers for four consecutive days! So I started to pay attention!

Then Blab (yes, "RIP Blab!) came along. Blab's live video streaming experience was one of the most robust because it became a place where people gathered for various reasons. The live streaming community that came out from it lasted longer than the platform or company did.

The most obvious success was the acceleration in relationships. Members of this community (and I later learned about many other similar live streaming communities) was successful at building authentic relationships that quickly established the "know, like and trust" factor amongst one another! Much faster than the average of traditional networking!

It felt like there was only one degree of separation instead of six! The engagements were fascinating and everyone felt like family! And in just a few short months (yes, less than six months!) I made more meaningful connections than my two years as a meetup host and organizer hosting networking events! Go figure!
